After attending Lancaster Royal Grammar School and qualifying as a dentist from Newcastle University in 2003, he chose to return to the area to be close to the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Since leaving university he has been very keen to remain at the forefront of his profession. Consequently, he has undertaken numerous post-graduate courses covering a wide range of dentistry. He has also gained a Masters Degree in Implantology, and a Diploma in Endodontics.

He is acutely aware of the digital revolution and the integration of AI in dentistry. Recognising the potential benefits that these developments can bring to the predictability and quality of the treatments, he invests in hi-tech, cutting edge equipment.

Over the course of his career, Ben has seen a huge increase in the demand for cosmetic solutions and is very pleased to offer a wide range of options for patients. He also has considerable experience in teeth straightening procedures with clear aligners.

At the time I had few teeth left on my upper jaw, only some in front but nothing left on the sides. Therefore, I could not eat normally,  I couldn't chew anything and I would not smile. I joined this practice because they were proposing non-titanium implants made of zirconia. Barry did the work with the implants and it changed my life! I have zirconia implants since 3 years now and I am very happy. It's like having new teeth.
Ben has also done lots of work on my teeth. The whole team is just wonderful: Barry and Ben the dentists, the lovely ladies dental assistants, the dental nurse, the dental hygienists and the secretary. Everyone is nice, helpful, patient, and very professional.

The staff are all lovely, welcoming and none judgmental. I'm a VERY nervous patient and I used to struggle to face going to the dentist but have seen Ben 3-4 times now and left feeling very relaxed.
The hygienists are also very gentle and I actually look forward to seeing them now! Something I never thought would be possible.

I spoke to people and got a very strong recommendation for Lonsdale Dental Practice.

I had a very thorough initial primary check up with Ben who then explained what treatment I required and showed me x rays and photographs of my teeth & gums. This was followed up with a very full comprehensive e mail report with all the x rays & photographs included and recommended treatment picked up on the initial inspection.

I have been very impressed by everyone from reception staff, hygienist (Ella), the dental nurses and of course Ben.

I have just returned home having finished an appointment with Ben when I had root canal treatment and treatment for an abscess. I was very nervous about the treatment after listening to stories about root canal treatment - BUT - it was just amazing, the treatment I had was incredible, no pain at all and the longer it went on I became more and more relaxed. Ben kept me fully informed all the way through the process putting me totally at ease. To me, the whole process and outcome has been tremendous and I would very strongly recommend the practice

Delighted with the end result and the attention to detail and care received from Barry Rimmer and his team.

My consultation at the beginning was extremely thorough, and I was expertly guided through each procedure before I decided on treatment.
So I knew exactly what to expect.

I have had 6 extractions, 2 bone grafts sedation twice 3 implants, and a bridge.
All of my treatment has taken place carefully over a period of around one year, as with each procedure involves time to heal.

How these people go to Turkey and have this done in a week is ridiculous I’m so pleased I was recommended this practice for my implants.

He is very good at discussing options and I trust him completely. Everyone is welcoming and really friendly and I would thoroughly recommend Lonsdale Dental practice.
As an update from the previous review above I would add that I have found Ben's approach to be calm, sympathetic and reassuring and his dental work exemplary.  He is justifiably proud of his precision work and will sit down with you next to X-rays and discuss options. I had quite a lot of work done initially due previous poor NHS dentistry and I am in no doubt Ben's work saved a few extractions. Some of Ben's root canals and crowns were done years ago and are still absolutely fine now and have stood the test of time.

Such a great practice, lovely friendly staff and great dentistry at competitive prices. I joined the Practice recently and decided to have whitening & composite fillings to my front teeth which had worn down & had also surface erosion near the gum. The results are amazing! I am thrilled! The whitening took my teeth several shades whiter, the trays are done via a scanner in house so no nasty moulds or long wait whilst the trays are made. I’ve had whitening before but it didn't give the same results as this one!
Ben took great care with my composite fillings to make sure they were smooth, colour matched and importantly that I was happy with them. I had considered the erosion to be just part of getting older - I should have had it done years ago! What an amazing difference! Awesome results! So pleased with the outcome. Highly recommended!

Anna did what i thought was the impossible and calmed me right down before Ben relieved some agonising tooth ache(i was almost at the point of some DIY dentristy).

I came to Lonsdale Dental Practice because I fell over and badly damaged my front tooth, Ben managed to do a root canal and bleach my tooth, this relieved the pain I was feeling and it also helped with the appearance of my tooth. I am now having  fixed braces with Barry and the treatment is going really well, there has been a positive noticeable change in my tooth placement. I am really thankful to both Ben, Barry and everyone at Lonsdale Dental Practice.

From Kendal

From the North (Kendal / M6 Junction 36): Take the A65 towards Kirkby Lonsdale. At the roundabout, follow signs for Kirkby Lonsdale town centre. Continue on Main Street and turn onto Tram Lane, where the practice is located.

From Lancaster

From the South (Lancaster / Carnforth): Drive along the A683 or A65 heading north towards Kirkby Lonsdale. Follow signs into the town centre, then continue on Main Street before turning onto Tram Lane.

From Morecambe

From Morecambe: Take the train from Morecambe station to Lancaster. From Lancaster, transfer to a train heading towards Oxenholme or Kendal. Get off at Oxenholme station and take a short taxi ride (around 20 minutes) to Lonsdale Dental Practice in Kirkby Lonsdale.

From Oxenholme

From the North (Oxenholme / Kendal): Take a train to Oxenholme Lake District station. From there, a short taxi ride (around 20 minutes) will bring you directly to Kirkby Lonsdale.

From Heysham

From Heysham: Take the Stagecoach 3 or 3A service towards Morecambe, then transfer to the 81/81A service to Kirkby Lonsdale. Once in the town centre, Tram Lane and the practice are just a short walk away.

Parking is available directly in front of Lonsdale Dental Practice on Tram Lane. Additional public parking spaces are located within a short walk in Kirkby Lonsdale town centre.

Lancaster: Drive via the A683 eastbound towards Caton, then follow signs for Kirkby Lonsdale. Continue straight into the town centre.

Kendal: ake the A65 southbound directly towards Kirkby Lonsdale. Continue into the town centre and turn onto Tram Lane.

Morecambe: Drive along the A589 to Lancaster, then follow signs for the A683 to Kirkby Lonsdale.

Heysham: Take the A5105 towards Morecambe, then head along the A589 to Lancaster. From there, take the A683 towards Kirkby Lonsdale.

Skipton: Take the A65 westbound towards Kirkby Lonsdale. Continue into the town centre to Tram Lane.
